Destiny 2 Tools

The idea behind the game tools section of Tales of the Aggronaut is to have a simple way of compiling links and resources that are personally useful to me. At some point, I completely stopped using bookmarks, and as a result, I tend to just type in the sites that I am trying to reach. This is great until I shift games and immediately seem to blow everything that I once knew… out of my brain. The game tools then are an easy way of not only compiling links that I find useful but also sharing them with my readers.

The Official News Site

Bungie does an excellent job of keeping its news feed on the website updated with the latest information. More specifically each Thursday they release what has become colloquially referred to by the community as the TWAB aka This Week At Bungie. They also do various community focus segments as well as post their patch notes here.

Destiny Item Manager

One of the extremely useful aspects of Destiny is that you can manipulate your inventory and vault remotely through API calls to their infrastructure. There are a number of tools that can do this, but the absolute best is Destiny Item Manager. I’ve written about DIM several times in the past but really if you are going to play you should be using this tool. It allows you to execute sorts against your inventory to find specific items, transfer them into your active inventory, and even flip into “farming mode” where it tries to keep your mailbox clear so as to keep from hitting the limit and losing items. It is absolutely a must-use app as far as I am concerned.

Other Useful Tools

  • Destiny 2 Stats at Tracker Network
    • Every bit of information that exists about players and combat is being datamined by websites feeding on the Bungie API. Probably the best site for looking up your own information is the Destiny 2 Stats hosted by The Tracker Network. If you are at all competitive this is somewhat useful to see how you performed in specific matches against specific weapon combinations. I am not competitive but it is kinda fun to look at PVE kill counts.
  • Destiny Sets
    • This website is largely for completionists and lets you easily see which pieces of gear you are still missing for each season/year.
  • D2 Checklist
    • This site keeps track of a lot of data that resets on a daily basis. It shows what lockouts you still have available and what gear that is currently for sale on vendors that you do not currently have.
  • Where is Xur
    • Xur is a vendor that shows up on Friday and disappears on Monday on the daily reset. Each week a number of items are available for purchase. This website gives a quick view of the items that are available, their current rolls, and where Xur is actually located currently.
  • Time Wasted On Destiny
    • This is not exactly useful, but it will give you a readout of the total hours played on all platforms for your ID.

So yesterday my good friend Ammo decided to take up residence on Gamepad.Club with so many of us that have moved there. Good Morning Friends! I finished up the quest for the Zephyr last night and while I absolutely hate the design… it is cool to have a stasis element sword. I am not sure what it is about the whole Dawning design ethic, but it is awful. Like I get what they are going for… a…

    Dawning Time

I have to admit I had completely forgotten about the Dawning Festival being a thing, or how generally satisfying it is. For those who have not experienced it, this is a weird festival where you shoot bad guys to collect materials… to make deeply questionable sounding cookies. You then hand those cookies into people in…
