New World Tools

The idea behind the game tools section of Tales of the Aggronaut is to have a simple way of compiling links and resources that are personally useful to me. At some point, I completely stopped using bookmarks, and as a result, I tend to just type in the sites that I am trying to reach. This is great until I shift games and immediately seem to blow everything that I once knew… out of my brain. The game tools then are an easy way of not only compiling links that I find useful but also sharing them with my readers.

News and Information

  • Official Forum News
    • For better or worse, this is the official source of news from Amazon Game Studios regarding things going on in the New World.
  • Official Forum Bug Reports
    • A place to officially report a bug in the game, or also a place to learn how to perform the bug given that they become fully accessible by the entire community after posting.
  • New World Reddit
    • It is a Reddit, it is devoted to New World… and honestly, you should probably prepare to have your flame-proof vest on given how disgruntled the community can be at times. That said it is still a useful source of information and the state of any given patch and its impact on the community.

Game Guides

  • New World Database
    • The WoWHead of New World. This site has a number of functions but the key one of interest is usually the item database that is updated with where items drop in the world.
  • New World Fans
    • General guide site featuring Build information as well as a basic item database and some other useful tools. It also has a pretty solid news feed.
  • New World Fishing Guide
    • This is the defacto guide for fishing information including the level ranges of all of the fishing locations and some of the best ways to level.
  • Gaming Tools – Tradeskill Leveling Guides and Crafting Calculators
    • This website has a number of tools devoted to the Tradeskill system within the New World. It features some calculators to help you determine the cost per item of crafting something and its efficiency.

Cartography

  • New World Map at Game Genie
    • One of the things that you need quite a bit is some sort of a map to help you find the resources you are looking for. This is my personal favorite map because it has a massive amount of configuration options to filter down what you are looking for.
  • New World Map
    • This map is also excellent but it is more simplified than Game Genie.
  • New World Minimap
    • This is a bit tricky in that it is a combination of a web-based map and an Overwolf Plugin that allows you to stream your current location to the web map. This is terribly useful if you have a second monitor because it will allow you to see in real-time where you are in relation to specific node spawns for resources. It used to be significantly better but was nerfed to be compliant with the updated terms of service.

Other Links

  • Know Bug List
    • Maintained by Amazon Game Studios, this is the current list of all of the known bugs in the game. When you encounter something fishy, this is a reasonable first place to look.
  • Unofficial Server Status
    • This site was crucial during the days of the server queues and is more of an interesting informational site now. keeps track of the current player count in each region and how many players are in the login queue.
  • Official Server Status
    • This is the significantly less useful status page maintained by Amazon Game Studios that largely just features a number of green checkmarks showing that the servers are technically online.

590 Gear Drop Summary

If you have been reading my blog for the last few weeks you will have noticed that I have been documenting the various camps that have item level 590 gear drops. I compiled all of this into a single category, but for sake of long-term usage, I thought I would condense this information so that you could just look for the gear slot you are trying to fill and find options. My hope is that this information stays evergreen and if someone comes along in six months or a year it will still be relevant.
