Final Fantasy V Tools

The idea behind the game tools section of Tales of the Aggronaut is to have a simple way of compiling links and resources that are personally useful to me. At some point, I completely stopped using bookmarks, and as a result, I tend to just type in the sites that I am trying to reach. This is great until I shift games and immediately seem to blow everything that I once knew… out of my brain. The game tools then are an easy way of not only compiling links that I find useful but also sharing them with my readers.

Four Job Fiesta

You might be sitting here wondering why in the hell I have a page devoted to Final Fantasy V, a single-player JRPG from the 90s. Well, what if I told you that it is connected to this mad tradition of running it through specific constraints each year for charity? Ashgar is extremely focused on this event and has drug almost all of the AggroChat friends into this madness more than once. As a result, I have kept a list of useful things to make this whole process a little more smooth.

  • Official Website
    • This is the site that explains how the process works and talks about the Twitter-based registration process. The front page will also update with when things have gone live for the year which always takes place in June.
  • Official Subreddit
    • A general place for discussion about things related to the Fiesta.
  • Final Fantasy V Walkthrough
    • Specifically useful for helping to avoid traps that you might encounter along the way, especially given that most people have never played this game and it has some clear pitfalls.
  • Blue Mage Magic List
    • This is exceptionally useful if you end up drawing a Blue Mage in the Fiesta. It explains the first time you can get each BLU spell and where so that you can be on the lookout as a number of these can only be gained once.
  • Final Fantasy V Resources at Mega64.net
  • Four Job Fiesta 2015 Guide
    • Ash hooked me up with this link and I believe it originally came from the Something Awful forums. It is a massive google doc filled with information and general tips about the Four Job Fiesta.
  • Sulla’s FF5 Solo Class Tier List
    • This is a deeply useful resource that in theory is lost to the sands of time… but also can be recovered by diving into the annals of the Wayback Machine. Since the domain this was originally hosted on is long gone, I created a mirror that I am hosting on Aggronaut. If anyone takes offense to that please let me know.
  • FF5 Enemy, Shop, and Equip Lists – Spreadsheet
    • This is a dense spreadsheet that includes a ton of data about the various enemies you might encounter and what every shop in the game is selling.

Yesterday’s post spawned a whole slew of interesting comments. First off I don’t want it to ever sound like my view of grinding is the penultimate view and that everyone should adopt it. In fact I think Bhagpuss has it right, that when I am talking about grinding I am actually talking about playing while…

    Regularly Playing: September 2019 Edition

For those who are new to this blog, I run a semi-monthly column of sorts where I track what I have been playing over the previous month. This does a few things but largely it allows me to track over the course of the years what I have been into at a given time. My…

    Mobile Matters

For years I have said that I really did not think that gaming on my phone was really my “thing”.  It was a platform that I largely felt didn’t quite fit my lifestyle, because in part I felt like I either had access to PC and Consoles…  or simply didn’t have the ability to game…
